On June 1st, 2024, the Miss Africa Unite 2024 pageant took place, showcasing the beauty, talent, and advocacy of nine contestants from across Africa. The event was organized by Spacy Nandy. The sparks glowed all over the place during the crowning of Nkwanzi Debora as the overall winner. However, the story of Patience Wawina, the second runner-up and winner of the Miss Popularity title, is one of remarkable resilience and determination.

How Miss Unite Africa took the crown when her grandfather had passed away

Unfortunately, Wawina received news of her grandfather’s passing just four hours before the competition. Nonetheless, she took to the stage with courage and dedication. Her heart was heavy, but her spirit unbroken. This moment of personal struggle was compounded by the announcement of the results, which left her initially disappointed. However, she has chosen to focus on the positive, embracing her titles and the opportunities they bring.
