About The Yara East Africa Partnership With Asili Agriculture

Asili Agriculture as an anchor-investor in rural areas, aggregating grain from a network of more than 15,000 small-scale producers and delivering farm management services to large-scale producers. Asili Agriculture markets annually about 50,000 metric tons of maize and soybean across the East African region, representing close to 170 million meals.

John Meshack Rotich, Commercial Manager Uganda, Yara East Africa, emphasized the importance of the partnership and Yara’s commitment to empowering local farmers.

“We are thrilled to partner with Asili for this field tour, which is a testament to our shared commitment to transforming agriculture in Uganda. By showcasing sustainable and innovative farming practices, we aim to empower local farmers with the knowledge and tools they need to improve their productivity and livelihoods. At Yara, we believe that collaboration is key to driving positive change in the agricultural sector, and this tour is a step towards achieving that goal,” said Rotich.

Producer Services Manager at Asili Agriculture Remarks On The Yara East Africa – Asili Agriculture Partnership

Commenting on the event, Andrew Kasambeko, Producer Services Manager at Asili Agriculture, highlighted the Yara East Africa – Asili Agriculture Partnership event’s value for farmers.

“We are very happy that the partnership with Yara East Africa is now crowding in the smallholder farmers. This demonstrates our shared vision of developing the agricultural sector in Uganda. With Yara, we have a proof case to showcase and we are glad that the farmers have been able to see for themselves the benefits of crop and soil nutrition. We will continue to encourage farmers to adopt the same principles that they’ve learned here on their own farms.”

Asili Agriculture, an integrated food security platform in East Africa, serves as Yara’s partner for this initiative. The farm’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement aligns perfectly with Yara East Africa’s vision for a more productive and sustainable agricultural landscape in Uganda.
