In a strongly worded open letter, Nobat Events, a prominent Ugandan promoter, has criticized legendary singer Dr. Jose Chameleone for his recent performance at the “Legend in Gold” concert held at Serena Hotel. The promoter expressed disappointment over the lack of professionalism and low ticket sales, comparing the event to successful concerts by other artists such as Hajji Haruna Mubiru, Sir Mesach, and Irene Namubiru, whose tickets sold out well before the event day.

Nobat Events highlighted that tickets for Chameleone’s Serena Hotel show were priced at 50,000 UGX, significantly lower than other artists who managed to sell tickets at 150,000 UGX three days prior to their shows. According to the promoter, Chameleone failed to generate the expected buzz, leaving fans underwhelmed. The promoter blamed the star’s failure to follow standard promotional practices, citing the absence of key marketing strategies such as billboards, radio and TV adverts, and press conferences.

The letter also criticized Chameleone for performing for free at Mudra’s concert just a day before his own headline show, further questioning his approach and dedication to professionalism. Nobat Events pointed out that such a lackluster approach has affected the legendary status Chameleone once held, urging him to “start respecting people’s money” and adopt a more professional and legendary lifestyle.

Tensions seem to be rising between the two parties, with Nobat Events mentioning personal grievances involving Weasel, Chameleone’s younger brother. The promoter revealed that Weasel had physically assaulted him in the past, and despite raising the issue, Chameleone allegedly supported his brother’s actions. Nobat Events warned that any future repeat of such an incident would lead to serious consequences, signaling a potential legal confrontation.

In a final statement, Nobat Events emphasized the need for Chameleone to distance himself from his common appearances in Kampala, suggesting he spend more time on his farm in Mubende to regain focus. The promoter also hinted at a pending court case, indicating ongoing legal issues surrounding the singer’s conduct and involvement in the concert.

As the situation unfolds, fans and the entertainment industry are left questioning what the future holds for the star. Will Dr. Jose Chameleone take heed of this call for professionalism, or will tensions continue to rise between him and Ugandan promoters?
