Today, 18th July 2022, we’re celebrating the 112th birth anniversary of physicist, composer and a pioneer of electronic music Oskar Sala.
Google is also celebrating his invention of the popular music genre through Google Doodles.
Electronic music has come a long way since the days of Avicii to Kygo, Major Lazer until Calvin Harris.

What Is Electronic Music?
This is any music involving electronic processing, such as recording and editing on tape. Electronic music reproduction usually involves the use of loudspeakers or an electronic organ.
What did Oskar Sala Do?
According to wikipedia, Sala electrified the world of television, radio and film by producing sound effects on a musical instrument. The result was called a mixture-trautonium. His most famous works are the films Rosemary (1959) and The Birds (1962).
Oskar Sala was born in Greiz, Germany in 1910 while his mother was a singer and his father was an ophthalmologist. Besides, ophthalmology, his father also knew talent.
The 14 year old smart Sala began composing songs for instruments like violin and piano.
When he listened to the trautonium for the first time, he was fascinated by its tonal possibilities and the technology the instrument offered.
Immediately, Sala’s life mission became mastering the trautonium and developing it further. This passion later inspired his studies in physics and composition at school.
According to Google, Sala eventually had to develop his own instrument called the mixture-trautonium.
The architecture of the mixture-trautonium’s was so unique. It had the ability of playing several sounds or voices simultaneously.
Growing up as a composer and an electro-engineer, Oskar Sala finally created electronic music. This invention set his style apart from others which earned him several awards for his work.
So, while you listen to DJ Khaled or DJ Snake, you now know where this unique genre originated. Oskar was born on 18 July 1910 and died on 26 February 2002.
