On Tuesday, the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, lauded Tusiime for his exemplary service, directing his transfer to the Parliamentary Police Directorate as a gesture of appreciation, so that, in her words, “he can rest.” The speaker commended Tumusiime’s unwavering commitment to his role, describing him as a model officer.

Earlier in October 2024, a video trending on social media showed a traffic officer under heavy rain directing cars on the right paths in the bumper traffic. Parliament has honored Traffic Police Officer Abdallah Tusiime. His dedication to duty captured the nation’s attention after a video of him directing traffic in the middle of a heavy downpour went viral on social media.

“I want to take a moment to applaud Police Officer Abdallah Tusiime, who has demonstrated exceptional commitment, character, and dedication over the years in his duties. We salute his service to the nation,” Among posted on X (formerly Twitter). Among also took the opportunity to recognize another police officer, Makawa Charles, who was recently assaulted while on duty, for maintaining professionalism and calmness during the ordeal. “We also salute Officer Makawa Charles for the maturity and calmness he exhibited when he was allegedly assaulted while in the line of duty. We celebrate your exemplary conduct in the service of your country,” she added.

What did Joel Ssenyonyi say about this?

Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi, leader of the Opposition praised Tusiime’s longstanding passion for his work, noting that he had observed the officer’s dedication over the last four years. “I want to appreciate this police officer. I have seen Abdallah Tumusiime on the road for about four years now; he is very passionate about the work that he does,” Ssenyonyi remarked.

On Monday, the Uganda Police Force officially recognized Tusiime’s dedication to his job. Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke echoed the admiration, highlighting that Tumusiime had received numerous accolades from the public for his enthusiasm and commitment.

In addition to the honors, Abdallah Tusiime has been awarded a scholarship to further his education, opening new doors for this exemplary officer who has shown remarkable dedication to serving his country.
