Who is Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye?

Hello. I hope you’re well. My name is Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye, yes. And I was born on 19th September 1999. I grew up in Mukono District with my mom and three other relatives of mine. That is, my mom is Nakyazze Esther Baroma, my grandmother is Nalule Miriam, my uncle is Luyinda Ibrahim, and my other mom (may his soul rest in peace), is Nanozi Barbara.

This is the official biography story of Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye who we featured earlier this year when she won Miss Gorgeous International Uganda for 2024. This article is her voice talking about how far she has come. Visit her social media handles to follow her on Instagram and LinkedIn.

Where Did Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye Attain her Education?

Well, I went to Top Care Nursery School. Then I went to Cornerstone Junior School for my primary. Then I went to Uganda Martyrs SS Namugongo. Then I went to Saint Joseph’s High School, Namagunga.

What Companies Are You Associated With?

First, I train at my mom’s school. She has a school in Mukono called Baroma Vocational Institute. It’s one of the best vocational institutes in Mukono District. We have many courses, but, I train them in the practical bit of it in the fashion class, yes, in the tailoring class, yes. So, I’ve worked with Baroma Vocational Institute. I’ve worked with TechnoServe Uganda. I’ve worked with Child Link Uganda, yeah. I’ve worked with Miss Tourism Uganda. I’ve worked with Little Miss Uganda, Miss Eco Queen, and Miss Gorgeous International.

How Did Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye Join Miss Gorgeous International, and What Is It Like Working with Eunice?

Miss Gorgeous International, I saw the posts from Miss Eunice’s WhatsApp, and, you know, I kept on inquiring from people if it was a good pageantry to join because it was new — it’s still new. It’s a new one. And a few friends told me, “Yeah, you should go for it. It’s still a new line. It is still good, like it is good.” So it would be fair enough if I went to the competition. So I went for it, and, yeah, that is how I joined it.

Working with Miss Eunice has been the most beautiful. She’s a calm lady, she’s so down-to-earth, real, and she’s very loving. She appreciates. She’s loving. She’s an all-around person and very supportive. Yes, so I’m glad that I was crowned Miss Gorgeous International Uganda 2024. It was a beautiful experience. It is the best experience because then it pushes me to the national level. Yes, and I’m grateful, and I’ll be glad to represent Uganda in South Africa next year.

What Was Your Experience in Dubai and Working with Favour Murungi?

First of all, I am Favour’s official designer. I’ve dressed her for her Little Miss Uganda pageant, and it has been a beautiful experience because she’s a wise young girl. She’s very talented and very passionate. And it was good news when the parents allowed me to travel with them and help out, you know, in the dressing and all that for the queen while we were in Dubai.

It was a surprise to me. I thank God above all because it has been God. I thank God for that. I’m very, very, very thankful. So being in Dubai, it was a beautiful experience. I was welcomed as a designer. It was amazing to be welcomed in new, specific fields. So we were able to get into the hotel and, you know, settle in, and we started the competition. Well, it was a beautiful experience.

I thank God that while we were in Dubai, our costumes won. We had the best national costume. She also won Ambassador of the United World. It was really beautiful. I was very, very honoured that my costume was awarded on an international stage. Yes.

What do we expect from Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye and Sakye Becca?

My plans are to grow my fashion brand, Sakye Becca Couture. I want it to become one of the leading fashion houses in Uganda and internationally. I am also passionate about empowering young people, especially girls, by teaching them skills in fashion and tailoring, so they can become independent.

I plan to continue working with pageants as a designer, helping queens shine both locally and internationally. Representing Uganda in South Africa next year is a major milestone, and I’m excited about it. I hope to use this opportunity to showcase Ugandan culture and talent on a global platform.

Additionally, I want to expand the vocational training at Baroma Vocational Institute, introducing more programs and reaching more young people who need these opportunities. I believe in equipping the next generation with skills to thrive.

What Advice Would You Give Young People Who Want to Join Pageants or Pursue Fashion Design?

For those who want to join pageants, my advice is: go for it. Don’t let fear hold you back. Pageants are not just about beauty; they’re about confidence, discipline, and representing your culture. Prepare yourself, learn to communicate well, and have something you are passionate about that you can share with the world.

For those pursuing fashion design, my advice is to start small and stay consistent. Learn the basics of tailoring and keep practising. Follow your passion and trust the process, because it takes time to build a brand. Look for opportunities to showcase your work, even if they seem small because every experience counts.

Most importantly, stay humble, keep learning, and never stop dreaming.

Final words from Rebecca Mirembe Kisakye

I am grateful for all the people who have supported me on this journey—my family, friends, mentors, and clients. Every milestone I’ve reached has been because they believe in me and God’s guidance. I am excited about the future and look forward to representing Uganda and making an impact through my work. Thank you so much for giving me this platform to share my story.
