Fans of Ugandan artist Omega 256 were left disappointed as the much anticipated concert scheduled for May 2, 2025, at Lugogo Cricket Oval was abruptly canceled. The event, organized by Nobat Events, had been generating buzz across the country, with the Western Uganda based singer poised to make a significant mark in the capital city’s vibrant music scene. However, just weeks before the big day, the concert was called off, sparking speculation, frustration, and a flurry of reactions from fans and industry insiders alike.

Who Is Omega 256?

Omega 256 is a Ugandan singer, performer, and songwriter known for her contributions to the Afrobeat genre, whose real name is Shamim Murerwa. She was born on September 27, 1999, in Kakoba, Mbarara district in Western Uganda, she has gained recognition for blending traditional African rhythms with modern musical elements. Often referred to as the “Queen of the West,” Omega 256 is celebrated for her energetic performances and songs that explore themes of love, life, and social justice. She is signed under Diagram Evolution (sometimes noted as SHABempire in other sources) and has become a prominent figure in Uganda’s music scene.

Her musical journey began officially less than a decade ago, that’s in 2017, Omega 256 has since released numerous popular tracks, including “Weekend,” “Keeza,” “Murder Case,” “Deep In Love,” “Ninterwa,” “This Year,” and “Sober,” among others. These songs showcase her versatility, ranging from upbeat party anthems to soulful, romantic melodies. Omega 256 writes all her own music, drawing inspiration from her love for travel, telenovelas, and diverse African musical traditions. She has built a significant following across Africa, establishing herself as one of Uganda’s notable contemporary artists.

Tickets were already on sale, and excitement was building as fans anticipated a night of electrifying performances. However, the dream of seeing Omega 256 light up the Lugogo stage came crashing down when Nobat Events announced the cancellation in early April 2025, less than a month before the scheduled date.

Why Was Omega 256’s Concert Cancelled?

While official statements have been somewhat vague, multiple sources point to a combination of factors that led to the cancellation. Nobat Events, the organizing team behind the event, hinted at underlying issues. According to the trending information, the promoter cited “many reasons, including acts of disrespect” as contributing to the decision. Though specifics remain unclear, this suggests a possible fallout between the artist and the event organizers.

Omega 256, while speaking on Capital FM Uganda during a segment hosted by Oulanya Jimmy Okoth and Lucky Rahma Mbabazi, revealed that her much-anticipated show is officially canceled. She expressed disappointments, noting the absence of essential promotional efforts, no banners, advertisements, or billboards have been set up, and there’s a clear lack of hype surrounding the event. According to Omega, the promoter, Nobat Events said that they do not work under pressure, despite the artist’s requests for better preparation and transparency. This unfortunate turn of events has left fans and the artist herself disheartened, as the concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, initially scheduled for May 2, 2025, will no longer take place

Omega 256 stated in a video that she canceled her May 2, 2025, concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval due to issues with the promoter, Nobat Events. She cited a lack of transparency and professionalism from Nobat Events as the primary reasons for the cancellation. Omega 256 also mentioned seeking accountability from the promoter about the concert preparations but felt her concerns were ignored.

It’s said that “Nobat Events later replaced Omega 256 with Matt Henry” for the same date and venue, a move that stirred mixed reactions among fans. Some industry insiders speculate that tensions between Omega 256 and another artist, Ray G, who previously performed at Lugogo, may have indirectly influenced the situation.
