Former CRK Planet singer Flona, real name Florence Nankinga, broke down live on air during a televised interview on Sanyuka TV, leaving viewers in shock and sparking widespread conversation across social media platforms. The incident took place during the station’s prime-time talk show “Crossfire”, hosted by presenter Macona Brian.

Flona, who was invited as the special guest to discuss her music journey, personal growth, and experiences in the entertainment industry, found herself on the defensive when the host accused her of relying on “sugar daddies” to fund her lifestyle. Macona alleged that her music career, housing, transportation, and general lifestyle were all sponsored by wealthy older men — a statement that triggered an emotional and powerful reaction from the singer.

Clearly shaken and visibly distressed, Flona interrupted the interview, got down on her knees, and tearfully pleaded with the host to retract his comments. She passionately defended her reputation, insisting that such claims were not only false but also deeply damaging to her image and brand.

“This is enough. We work so hard for our brands,” Flona said through tears. “I want to kneel down for you and clear my name before people out there who might believe you. People out there take everything said here seriously.”

She went on to express the emotional toll that such public accusations take, especially in an industry where female artists are already subjected to scrutiny and judgment.

  • “Not everyone is happy with your success. I’m somewhere in music. If it wasn’t for music, I wouldn’t be here with you. I’m someone that is down to earth, but you take my calmness for granted,” she added, struggling to hold back her emotions.

Despite her emotional appeal, Macona appeared unfazed, and although he attempted to regain control of the interview by asking her to get off the floor, he failed to show any visible remorse. His attempts to continue the conversation were in vain, as Flona ultimately chose to leave the interview midway.

The moment has since gone viral online, with fans and industry figures expressing concern and calling for professionalism and respect when interviewing public figures. Many have condemned Macona’s approach, labeling it as disrespectful and unethical.

Flona, who rose to fame under the CRK Planet label and has since made a name for herself as a solo artist, is known for her humility, talent, and resilience in the face of industry challenges. Her emotional plea on live TV has not only humanized her to fans but also ignited a broader conversation about the treatment of female artists in Uganda’s entertainment industry.
