The 2025 USSSA Boys National Football Championship officially began on Monday, 5th May, with 64 boys’ football teams from across the country arriving at Ngora High School, the host of this year’s tournament. Upon arrival, teams underwent registration and participant screening.

Founded in 1914, Ngora High School offered a breathtaking setting for the championship, and visitors nodded in approval at USSSA’s choice of venue.

Tuesday, 6th May, was scheduled as the official kick-off day for matches. A total of 16 games were planned: eight to begin at 2:00 PM and another eight at 4:00 PM across several pitches. Ngora High School alone had four pitches in use, while additional ones were provided by neighboring schools.

How USSSA Boys National Football Championship Match Day One Unfolded

Although matches were set to begin at 2:00 PM, true to the spirit of “African time,” games had not kicked off by 2:30 PM. However, signs of imminent action were evident: referees were present, teams were warming up, and fans had begun gathering, though the atmosphere didn’t quite match the electrifying energy seen in Masaka during last year’s nationals.

At Ngora High School Pitch Two, Standard High Zzana faced off against Kichwamba High School. The game ended 1-0 in favor of Standard High, courtesy of a brilliant free-kick goal from near the center of the pitch.

In the following match on the same pitch, Agape SS took an early lead against Metha SS, with one player even pulling off a rabona to excite the crowd. All signs pointed to a dominant performance by Agape. However, in a dramatic comeback reminiscent of Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final turnaround against Lyon, Metha scored three goals to steal all three points.
