Phaneroo Ministries Responds to Defamation on Social Media

“We want to clearly state that the information contained within these publicly shared documents is not new to our dedicated members and partners. Phaneroo Ministries International is duly registered as a company limited by guarantee (such companies have no shares or shareholders) and holds the necessary licensing as a national non-governmental organisation, in full compliance with the laws of Uganda.”

Today, 14 May 2025, Phaneroo Ministries International has issued a strong public response following a wave of social media attacks and misinformation targeting the church and its leadership. The controversy, which erupted earlier this week, has centered around unverified claims involving Apostle Grace Lubega and allegations of financial misconduct, including a viral narrative suggesting he demanded UGX 55 million — a claim that has since sparked ridicule and meme culture online.

What does the message from Phaneroo Ministries say?

In an official statement released today, the ministry condemned what it described as a “coordinated effort” by certain individuals to discredit the integrity and reputation of the organisation. According to Phaneroo’s leadership, the campaign involves the circulation of official documents from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), which are allegedly being misused and misrepresented on various social media platforms.

Phaneroo Ministries International Statement (14th May 2025):

“It has come to our attention that certain individuals are actively engaged in a campaign to undermine the integrity and reputation of Phaneroo Ministries International. This coordinated effort involves the dissemination of official Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) documents through social media channels, with the apparent intention of misrepresenting our legitimate operations. We want to assure our members and the wider public that this is not an isolated incident but rather a deliberate and ongoing attack. Furthermore, we have also recently experienced attempts to compromise our email communications.

We want to clearly state that the information contained within these publicly shared documents is not new to our dedicated members and partners. Phaneroo Ministries International is duly registered as a company limited by guarantee (such companies have no shares or shareholders) and holds the necessary licensing as a national non-governmental organisation, in full compliance with the laws of Uganda.

The remarkable growth of Phaneroo Ministries International, both nationally and internationally, in its mission to spread the Gospel and transform lives, stands as a clear testament to the diligent and faithful stewardship of the resources entrusted to us. These tangible results speak volumes about who we are and what we stand for, all to the glory of God.

Therefore, we earnestly appeal to all our members to remain steadfast, united in spirit, and to allow the unwavering truth and faithfulness of God to prevail. We urge you not to be swayed or distracted by these baseless and futile attempts to sow discord. We are confident that truth and integrity will ultimately triumph.”

The ministry also disclosed that there have been recent attempts to compromise their email communications, suggesting that the efforts to discredit them may go beyond mere online trolling. Here is the X post:

Phaneroo clarified that its legal and operational status is above board, stating that the organisation is duly registered as a company limited by guarantee—an entity type that has no shares or shareholders—and is licensed as a national non-governmental organisation (NGO) in accordance with Ugandan law.

Addressing the wider public, the statement emphasized that the information being spread is not new to their members and partners, and that transparency has always been at the core of their operations.

The ministry went further to highlight the impact of its work, both locally and internationally, in spreading the Gospel and transforming lives. “These tangible results speak volumes about who we are and what we stand for, all to the glory of God,” the statement added.

The leadership appealed to its followers to remain steadfast and not to be swayed by what it termed “baseless and futile attempts to sow discord.” Phaneroo reaffirmed its confidence that “truth and integrity will ultimately triumph.”

The church encouraged any individuals seeking further guidance or clarification to reach out via their official contact channels.

Why is this happening?

This strong rebuttal comes at a time when religious institutions in Uganda and across Africa are increasingly being scrutinized over governance and financial transparency. While the viral narratives involving Apostle Grace have gained traction online, Phaneroo’s response marks a firm stand in defense of its leadership and mission.

As the story continues to unfold, many are watching closely to see whether this public statement will succeed in quelling the storm or if the backlash will persist in the weeks to come.
