On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the highly anticipated RASS Prom Party 2025 finally took place. Students at Rubongi Army Secondary School (RASS), especially those in candidate classes, had been preparing for this day since last term. For many, it was a memorable event—one that would stay with them long after leaving school.

However, the celebrations were not as extravagant as in previous years due to new government guidelines on high school prom parties. A circular dated May 16, 2025, issued by Permanent Secretary Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, directed all schools to comply with strict regulations starting in the second term.

Key Guidelines That Affected the Event

No pairing as couples or imitating romantic relationships.

No use of vehicles or helicopters for grand entrances.

All entertainment activities had to end by 6:00 PM.

While the 6:00 PM curfew was already in place at RASS, the restrictions on couples and vehicles disappointed some students. Still, they adapted and enjoyed the event under the new rules.

RASS Prom Party 2025 vs. RASS Prom Party 2024

Before the event, research revealed that prom parties at RASS began in 2022. Since then, the 2024 edition has been widely regarded as the best so far.

This year, expectations were high—everyone wanted to see if the 2025 prom could match or surpass the previous one. Unfortunately, based on what unfolded, RASS Prom Party 2025 did not quite measure up. The 2024 prom remains unmatched in excitement and grandeur.

The Royal Court: Prom King, Queen, and President

This year’s Prom President was Rayan Bint (S.6 Science), who made a grand entrance in a stunning red dress fit for a head of state. She was accompanied by her classmate, Mulayi Joel (S.6 Science).

The Prom King was Senoga Jonathan Samuel, while the Prom Queen was Namasiro Faith, the outgoing UNSA Secretary for Women Affairs. Faith’s elegant fashion sense won over the audience, securing her the crown against two other competing pairs.

The Head Teacher of RASS, Maj. Zaina K. Nalukenge, graced the event as the Chief Guest. In her speech, she:

Thanked students and staff for working together to make the day colorful.

Applauded the students for maintaining decency and discipline.

Encouraged them to use the prom as a break from academic stress and prepare for upcoming studies.

Conclusion

While RASS Prom Party 2025 was a toned-down version of previous years due to new regulations, students still made the most of it. The 2024 prom remains the benchmark, but the 2025 event was a decent celebration under the circumstances.
