2025 Bankers’ Sports Gala Dubbed “Beyond the Finish Line”
The Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (UIBFS), in partnership with the Uganda Bankers Association (UBA), officially launched the 2025 Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala through the Bankers’ Run/Walk at the UBA Offices in Muyenga.
This year’s theme for the Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala is “Beyond the Finish Line.” The Bankers’ Run/Walk also launches the 30-Day Fitness Challenge, where participants are tasked with walking 5,000 steps daily for 30 days to earn a medal and points for their institution.

The program commenced with the arrival of participants, followed by a briefing session, participant registration on the UIBFS Fitness App, and energizing Zumba exercises.
The Chief Walker/Runner officially flagged off the 3KM, 5KM, and 7KM routes, marking the start of the run/walk. The participants took to the course in high spirits, showcasing teamwork, endurance, and commitment to wellness.
The evening proceeded with opening remarks from the CEO of UIBFS, Mrs. Goretti Masadde. She shared her excitement for this year’s sports gala and encouraged all participants to make physical health a daily habit.

“This gala is not just about competition. It is a platform where we, as bankers and financial sector professionals, step away from our desks and offices to connect, to celebrate teamwork, and to promote wellness. It is a reminder that while we work hard to keep our sector strong, we must also take care of ourselves,” she said.
The Executive Director of UBA, Mr. Wilbord Owor, also shared his remarks during the launch of the Sports Gala. He shared that this event is essential for the well-being of the staff in this industry. He expressed that UBA would continue to partner with UIBFS to create even more sustainable ways to host and organize the sports gala.
The Board Chair of UIBFS, Mr. Michael K. Mugabi, also expressed his pride in the institute for their innovation and planning for the years’ gala.
“This year’s theme, ‘Beyond the Finish Line,’ could not be more relevant. It speaks to endurance and the determination to go further than expected. Just like in our sector, where challenges demand innovation and persistence, today’s run is not only about crossing the line—it is about pushing ourselves, supporting each other, and embracing wellness as a lifestyle,” he said.



The Institute also launched their new sports gala App that will allow all participating member banks and their staff to easily track their daily 5,000 steps for the Fitness Challenge while also keeping track of all the games that will be played through the gala.
The 2025 Annual Sports Gala will run from 05th September to 19thOctober 2025. The run shall have a variety of games such as indoor games, outdoor games, the CEO/ExCo Golf Tournament, swimming, quizzes, and many others.
The participating institutions include Bank of Uganda, ABD Capital Bank, ABSA Bank, Bank of Baroda, Cairo Bank, Centenary Bank, Diamond Trust Bank, DFCU Bank, Equity Bank, Ecobank, Exim Bank, Finance Trust Bank, Financial Intelligence Authority, FINCA MDI, GT Bank, Housing Finance Bank, I&M Bank, KCB Bank, NCBA, Postbank, Tropical Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic Bank, United Bank for Africa, Uganda Development Bank and UGAFODE MDI.
