Annual Banking Theme: Beyond the Finish Line
The Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services (UIBFS), in partnership with the Bank of Uganda (BoU) and the Uganda Bankers’ Association (UBA), today announced the inaugural Annual Bankers’ Awards, a landmark event recognizing outstanding performance, innovation, professionalism, and transformative leadership across Uganda’s banking and financial services sector.
The ceremony, held at Mestil Hotel, marks the first time the industry has come together under one unified platform to celebrate excellence across a broad spectrum of professional and institutional disciplines.
The Annual Bankers’ Awards were conceived in late 2024 following sector-wide consultations arising from the Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala. What began as a proposal to create a dedicated awards day for sports achievements evolved into a broader, sector-transforming initiative to honor professional excellence across all banking disciplines—filling a long-standing gap in industry-wide recognition.
Celebrated under the theme “Beyond the Finish Line,” the awards underline resilience, service excellence, institutional leadership, and innovation—core principles required to build a world-class financial sector that serves people, businesses, and communities sustainably.
This edition attracted 57 high-quality submissions across 14 categories, reflecting the sector’s enthusiasm and the growing commitment to performance excellence.
