The Tororo Chief Magistrate, Irene Nantabya, has adjourned court Tororo woman mp vote recount proceedings to January 27, 2026, to deliver a final ruling on whether a vote recount will be conducted in the disputed electoral process.

The adjournment follows concerns raised over the integrity of electoral materials after two ballot boxes—one from Soni Kainja Primary School and another from Ojilai Buganga Primary School—were found with broken seals. The development has sparked legal debate over the credibility of the affected ballots and whether the circumstances warrant a recount.

During the session, the court heard submissions from the parties involved regarding the implications of the broken seals and the procedures governing the handling and storage of ballot boxes. The magistrate opted to defer her decision, citing the need to carefully consider the legal arguments and evidence presented before determining the way forward.
