The Ministry of Education and Sports has officially released the Uganda´s Revised 2026 School Academic Year Calendar, outlining key term dates, holidays, and reporting schedules for learners across the country. The updated calendar provides clarity for schools, parents, and learners as they plan for the 2026 academic year.
According to the ministry, the 2026 school year will be structured into three terms, with a total of 260 instructional days, reflecting the government’s commitment to maintaining adequate teaching and learning time while allowing for scheduled breaks.
Term Dates for the 2026 School Academic Year
- Term I will begin on Tuesday, 10th February 2026, and run until Friday, 1st May 2026, covering 89 days of learning.
- Term II is scheduled to start on Monday, 25th May 2026, and end on Friday, 21st August 2026, also lasting 89 days.
- Term III will commence on Monday, 14th September 2026, and conclude on Friday, 4th December 2026, spanning 82 days.

Term Holidays
The ministry has also provided clear timelines for school holidays:
- Term I holiday: From Saturday, 2nd May 2026, to Sunday, 24th May 2026 (23 days).
- Term II holiday: From Saturday, 22nd August 2026, to Sunday, 13th September 2026 (23 days).
- Term III holiday: From Saturday, 5th December 2026, to Sunday, 31st January 2027, lasting 58 days.

Reporting Dates for New Secondary School Entrants
Special reporting dates have been set for students joining new levels in secondary education:
- Senior One (S.1) students will report on Monday, 16th February 2026.
- Senior Five (S.5) students are expected to report on Monday, 23rd February 2026.
Planning and Preparedness
Education officials note that the revised calendar is intended to support smoother academic planning, reduce disruptions, and ensure consistency across schools nationwide. Parents and school administrators have been advised to align their preparations, including school fees, instructional materials, and staffing, with the revised schedule.
