Alchemy of Souls is an ongoing K-Drama Series filled with fantasy, love and drama . The story was written by the Hong Sisters and first premiered on June 18 , 2022.
Plot
Set in the fictional country of Daeho, Alchemy of Souls depicts mages ( magicians) who master several spells that exist between Heaven and Earth.Of all the great spells, Alchemy of Souls is the greatest .It is a spell that enables one to switch souls from one body to another.
In the beginning of Season one of the series,lead actress Naksu ( Jung So Min ) is in a fierce battle with some mages.Naksu is a viscous assassin known for leaving dead bodies everywhere she goes.She is overpowered by the mages and escapes with wounds.
The injured Naksu manages to use the Alchemy of Souls spell to switch her soul into another body.Unfortunately,the new body is weak and above all blind ( though later Naksu is able to see ). Naksu becomes known as Mu – Deok in this new body. Jang UK ( Lee Jae Wook ) , a member of the Jang Family has an unpleasant history. His father Jang Gang blocked his son’s gate of energy.Jang UK cannot practice spells and be a mage like other people. He manages to recognise Mu – Deok’s queer look and concludes that she is Naksu.Jang UK asks her to train him .
The two become inseparable. Their relationship is of Master – Pupil and Master – Servant .Mu – Deok serves as Jang UK’s servant as she trains him. She hopes to use his immense power to regain her own power as the great assassin Naksu. Along the way , Mu-Deok crosses paths with Seo Yul ( Hwang Min-Hyun ) and she recalls their close friendship back then.The Crown Prince Go Won ( Shin Seung Ho ) also becomes part of circle of people in Mu-Deok and Jang UK’s life.
However, not all is about friendship.Apparently,Jin Mu the assistant Gwanju is in league with the Queen to have Daeho under their control. They plan to use the “ Ice Stone “ and control Jinyowon so as to over come their close rivals Songrim.
At the moment of writing this article, the plot is incomplete for season one .Out of the 20 episodes that are expected, only 16 have been released. Episodes 17 and 18 are set to be released August 20 and 21, 2022 respectively .
Alchemy of Souls: Season Two
With a 90% rating from 3,325 votes on Asianwiki ,the show has received a massive viewership not only in Asia but the world as a whole. This has been topped up with a 8.9/10 rating via IMDB.Basing on these figures and a lot of positive reviews, the creators are already working on season two.
Unlike season one which is expected to have 20 episodes, season two will have a total of 10 episodes.One can expect Season Two to be released by next year – 2023.
There have been rumors stating that Jung So Min may not be in the cast for season two to continue with her role as Mu- Deok . This has left a number of fans of the movie fuming with some promising not to watch season two if the lead actress is changed.Mu – Deok’s character has been key and central to the plot that most people fear the show may be altered of it alters it’s lead actress.
