To win is the goal

AFROBASKET, on the other hand, is the flagship basketball tournament of FIBA Africa. It is a biennial tournament that brings together the best national basketball teams from across the continent to compete for the championship title. The tournament features 16 teams that are divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage.

Every basketball counts and so does ones speed

Teams from Zone V have historically performed well at the AFROBASKET tournament, with several teams from the zone making it to the quarterfinals, semifinals, and even the finals. Uganda, for instance, has had some notable successes at the tournament, finishing in the top five on several occasions.

In recent years, FIBA Africa has also introduced a new format for the AFROBASKET tournament, which involves a qualification process for the teams. The process involves a series of home and away games, with the top teams from each zone advancing to the tournament proper. This has made the competition more inclusive and has allowed teams from Zone V and other zones to have a better chance of competing at the highest level.
