Historic Victory for Moroccan Breakdancers in Rabat

Morocco showcased its breakdancing prowess at the inaugural African breakdancing championships held in Rabat on May 12, 2023. The country’s breakdancing talents swept both the women’s and men’s categories, earning them two coveted spots at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Men’s Category: B-Boy Billy Claims Victory

Morocco duo won the inaugural Africa Breakdancing competition

The men’s final witnessed a thrilling showdown between two Moroccan B-Boys, Billy and Tawfiq, both vying for the top spot. In the end, Bilal Mallakhaka, popularly known as B-Boy Billy, emerged as the victor, securing his place as Africa’s representative at the Olympic Games.

Expressing his elation, B-Boy Billy remarked, “Today, I won the African breakdance championship, which grants me the honor of representing Africa at the Olympic Games in Paris. I am committed to working tirelessly to showcase the best of Africa on this global stage.”

Women’s Category: B-Girl Elmamouny Shines

In the women’s section, Fatima Zahra El Mamouny, renowned as B-Girl Elmamouny, displayed exceptional skill and talent, ultimately outshining South African contender Midian Leah to claim the championship title.

As a result , this remarkable achievement by Elmamouny marks a significant milestone for breakdancing on the African continent.

The World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF) Secretary General, Sergei Nifontov, emphasized the importance of this event, stating, “This is a historical moment and a huge milestone for WDSF Breaking, as it marks the first continental championship in Africa.”
