Monday 9th May 2022 has seen news circulating Social Media about Sheebah Karungi being sexually harassed. The self styled Queen Karma personally came out to talk about the incident.
However,she doesn’t name the assaulter apart from saying he is “one of those people you respect and call real role models that pretend on TV to be good…”
How it all started
In a video posted on her Instagram, Sheebah narrates how she came to suffer the sad incident.
“I had a show .I was performing for one of those people you respect and call real role models that pretend on TV to be good…This old pervert was trying to be funny with me in my car. He and his security just came and opened my car door as I was sleeping waiting to be called on stage by my manager. He was trying to be inappropriate in front of my team members; no shame, no remorse…I felt so angry that I almost didn’t perform but I respect my job” narrates Sheebah Karungi. “
“Why do you look at Women as objects ? Don’t you have daughters? If you want to sleep with a woman please ask nicely,” added the “ Mukama Yamba “ singer .
Sheebah’s Appeal “ To whom it may concern”
A post on her Instagram that to many sounded as an appeal especially to the Male gender for this matter reads :
“ TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I don’t care what you think about when you see me on stage or in any of my videos dressed the way i dress up, You better RESPECT MY BODY. Its MINE ,I get to do whatever I want to do with it .You DON’T. You can watch but you CERTAINLY CAN’T TOUCH.”
Different reactions to Sheebah’s post
A number of Sheebah’s fans have come out to voice their views regarding the scenario that has befallen their favourite singer . Critics too have taken the incident as a good timing to showcase their school of thought about the artist.
As it is expected, most of her fans came to her support. Ladies especially reiterated the need for men to respect Women’s bodies. In fact ,some of the fans even went ahead to suggest that Sheebah names the assaulter so as so shame him and bring an end to the vice.
On the other hand, critics claim that the assaulter is not to be blamed.
