Think Crazy, Invent Crazy
In the first chapter, Palmy Olson brings in the aspect of multiple genders which wasn’t a thing back then “In the conservative stronghold of St. Louis, Missouri, people didn’t talk about ….”. I scrolled past a couple of pages trying to skip Altman’s Advocacy for what we term, “strange affection” in my African setting.
The world has space for crazy thinkers, only thing one needs is extreme hunger and they will attain it and of course, Altman’s hunger was strong enough to birth invention such as Loopt and OpenAI.Atlman moved his office to Silicon Valley just a few blocks away from Google Headquarters.

The world belongs to those who take the first step and take charge – Faith Zeporah Namwera
Altman understands the importance of surrounding oneself with the right company and this right here is a genuis move because Silicon Valley was a land filled with crazy thinkers.
I love the second chapter because a one Demos Hassabis a dark-haired teenager from North London determined to build machines more intelligent than human, woah. A perfect time to show that not all inventions are birthed my middle aged people, Hassabis designed “Theme Park”. And boom, the great public loss when inventions go bad, what a painful season.
Hassabis’ creation was a blend of AI and the real world simulation drawing inspiration from Populous his favourite god game and many more alike.“There are people here who will take your wild ideas seriously instead of mocking you.” an excerpt from chapter 3 rings loudly in my ears the sentence, ” find your crew, a people who will believe in your wildest ideas and are also bearing great ideas“. Otherwise, you are headed for doom, this entails the aspect of surrounding, it’ll either make you or break you.

Welcome to a world imbibed with a blend of AI and human simulation.
For Altman, Silicon Valley was the place to thrive in with his mind blowing ideas because it was a hub of invention, everyone was building for tomorrow. Just like Altman, you have to have a crazy level of dedication to succeed because success is pursued, it just doesn’t happen on its own.
The big question I pose is, “Has Uganda inculcated AI into the justice system? Of course yes, the Family Litigation App by Terry Kahuma a Ugandan Advocate is out, but how many are even aware of it. Gebru discovered COMPAS (Correctional Offender Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions) software is being used in the US criminal justice system , which judges and parole offices used to help make decisions about bail, sentencing, and parole. Unfortunately, this software turned out to likely be wrong when it came to future predictions of criminal likelihood by Black defendants.
My thought process is this, just as humans are not perfect but we work on our flaws, so should AI be given a grace window for betterment. With DeepMind gone to Google, Altman didn’t want to lose OpenAI to a larger tech company, so he pitched the idea of a strategic partnership which is ambiguous in nature to Hoffman.
The birth of ChatCPT skyrocketed the AI world, from encountering limited tech to a whole new dimension of new tech entrenched with broad knowledge. With The New York Times calling ChatGPT “the best artificial intelligence chatbot ever released to the general public.” this was a huge one for Altman. And of courses, Google noticed but Microsoft was a step ahead of it.

ChatGPT unlocked a new AI dimension.
If Google was a man, I would say that he has an eye for good things and he definitely goes after it given that it had acquired DeepMind earlier. One huge challenge we face is that AI evolves faster than our legal framework that regulates it.
Most nations are yet to pass laws governing Artificial intelligence, but with futuristic minds like Altman, will these laws even be of help? Will they also be futuristic like “what they regulate”?
In conclusion, with all the mishaps of AI, I am positive that it’s futuristic nature will resolve a great deal of human problems and even predict more complex issues that are yet to happen. AI is here to evolve and stay, it’s not going anywhere therefore we need to embrace it and give positive feedback to its creators.
