Step 1: Insert the SIM Card

Locate the SIM card slot on your router. A SIM card symbol next to the slot shows the correct orientation—ensure the SIM card is facing up, and slide it in.

Beside the SIM card slot, you’ll find a reset button that you can use to reset the router if it’s malfunctioning or if you’ve forgotten your password.

Step 2: Powering On the Airtel 5G Wi-Fi Router

Using the Power Plug

Plug the router into a power socket and press the power button to turn it on. Alternatively, you just connect it to your powerbank which comes straight out of the box with 5 hours functionality.

Using a Power Bank (UPS)

If you’re using a power bank, note the following battery light indicators:

  • Blue Light: The power bank has sufficient charge.
  • Red Light: The power bank is low on charge and needs recharging.
  • Second Blue Light: Indicates that the battery is charging.
  • Second Blue Light Off: Indicates that the power bank is fully charged.

Connect the power bank to the Airtel 5G Wi-Fi Router using the provided cable, and switch on the power bank. The router will take about 40 seconds to power up fully.

Step 3: Understanding Airtel 5G Wi-Fi Router LED Indicators

Once powered on, the router’s LED indicators provide the following status updates:

  • Power Light: Confirms the router is receiving power.
  • Wi-Fi Light: Indicates that Wi-Fi is being broadcast.
  • 4G Light: Lights up green if 4G access is available in your area.
  • 5G Light: Lights up if 5G access is available; remains off if there’s no 5G signal in your area.
  • Signal Strength Light:
    • Green: Strong signal quality.
    • Blue: Medium signal quality.
    • Red: Poor signal quality.
    • Flashing Red: SIM card not recognized.
    • Off: No network signal.

Step 4: Connect to the Airtel 5G Wi-Fi Router Network

On your computer or smartphone, search for available Wi-Fi networks. You should see two networks listed. Connect to the first network using the default Wi-Fi password, labeled as the Wi-Fi Key, located on the bottom of the router.

Step 5: Access the Router Control Panel

To configure your router:

  1. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome).
  2. Type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar (without spaces) and press Enter.
  3. Log in using the default credentials (admin for both username and password), found at the bottom of the router.

Step 6: Configure Wi-Fi Settings

Once logged in:

  1. Navigate to Wi-Fi Settings in the left-hand menu.
  2. Tap 5G Wi-Fi Settings.
  3. Enable 5G Optimization to merge the two networks into one.
  4. Click Save, then wait about seven seconds for the changes to apply.

Step 7: Set a New Wi-Fi Name and Password

To personalize your Wi-Fi:

  1. Go to Wi-Fi Settings > 5G Wi-Fi Settings.
  2. Under SSID, enter your preferred Wi-Fi name.
  3. Under Wi-Fi Password, create a strong password.
  4. Click Save to apply the changes.

Step 8: Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network

Disconnect from the default network and reconnect using your new Wi-Fi name and password.

Conclusion

Your Airtel 5G Wi-Fi Router is now fully set up and ready for use. If you notice any issues with battery levels or signal strength, refer to the LED indicators for troubleshooting. Enjoy a seamless browsing experience, and if you have questions, consult Airtel customer support.
