When did Allan Cruz leave BBS?

Allan Cruz, the celebrated Ugandan TV presenter, actor, and YouTuber, has officially stepped away from BBS Terefayina, bringing his remarkable nine-year run at the station to an emotional close.

The news of his resignation was confirmed on 05 April 2025 during an interview where Cruz opened up about the personal and professional reasons behind the decision. For nearly a decade, he served as one of the most prominent faces on the station, earning admiration for his vibrant personality and relatable style.

“Yes, it’s true I left BBS after 9 years. Some reasons as to why I resigned are personal, but I can talk of a few,” he revealed. “I had presented for a long time on the show, so I felt I needed to move on.”

Cruz was best known for hosting the entertainment show Ffe Tuliko, which aired every Saturday. The show became a staple for weekend viewers and an anchor for Uganda’s entertainment scene. Initially co-hosted with Momo19, who later moved to Spark TV, Cruz continued the show with a new female presenter, maintaining its popularity and high engagement with fans.

The BBS Terefayina Chapter

Allan Cruz joined BBS Terefayina in 2016, not long after the station was established by the Buganda Kingdom to promote indigenous culture and locally driven content. Over time, he became one of the station’s most recognized presenters, drawing in viewers with his humor, authenticity, and sharp understanding of youth and urban culture.

Through Ffe Tuliko, Cruz interviewed top artists, analyzed entertainment trends, and celebrated emerging talent. The show wasn’t just a platform for celebrity gossip—it was a cultural voice for young Ugandans, and Cruz was at the center of it all.

He also played a crucial role behind the scenes, contributing to the show’s format and overall feel. His departure is undoubtedly a major shift for BBS, as they now face the challenge of replacing a presenter who has come to define their Saturday programming.

Why He Resigned

Cruz pointed to a combination of personal growth and the desire for new challenges as reasons behind his resignation.

“I have been on this show for a long time. I felt it was time to close that chapter and focus on new goals. I’ve grown and now want to invest more energy in acting, online content, and my personal life.”

His statement reflects a man ready to evolve beyond the comfort zone he helped build. After years of weekly TV hosting, Cruz believes it’s time to embrace the next level of his creative career.

What’s Next: YouTube and Acting

Looking ahead, Allan Cruz plans to focus on building his digital empire—starting with his YouTube channel, where Maama Brighton continues to draw laughs and conversations. Fans can expect more consistent uploads, bigger productions, and content that blends comedy with real-life inspiration.

He also has his eyes set on professional acting, with projects lined up that explore different aspects of his talent beyond comedy. Whether it’s through drama, film, or stage work, Cruz intends to deepen his storytelling and reach new audiences.

“Maama Brighton is not just comedy anymore. I want to explore themes that touch lives, educate, and still entertain. We’re working on something big.”

Legacy and Influence

Allan Cruz leaves behind a strong legacy at BBS Terefayina. He helped elevate the station’s youth appeal, created one of its most beloved programs, and showed how traditional media and digital content could work hand in hand.

He is more than just a presenter—he’s a cultural voice, an entertainer, and a digital pioneer. As he steps away from live television, fans are both nostalgic and excited. This isn’t the end of Allan Cruz—it’s just the beginning of a new chapter.

Wherever he goes next, one thing is certain: Uganda will be watching.
