Ambassador Joy Ruth Aceng on Canada Incident

As Uganda’s Ambassador to Canada, Joy Ruth Aceng has been a relentless advocate for Uganda’s economic and political interests. Her diplomatic tenure was marked by significant achievements, most notably her efforts to mobilize Ugandans in the diaspora to invest back home. This initiative was in line with Uganda’s “Buy Uganda, Build Uganda” (BUBU) strategy, which aims to boost local production and create job opportunities. Through various conventions and diplomatic engagements, particularly in Ottawa, Ambassador Aceng played a pivotal role in highlighting Uganda’s vast investment opportunities.

Her message to the world was clear: Uganda is a land brimming with potential, ripe for investment across various sectors. This bold stance attracted numerous investors, elevating Uganda’s profile on the global stage and reinforcing its reputation as a prime destination for international investment.

Ambassador Aceng’s Support for Uganda’s Leadership

Ambassador Aceng has been a staunch supporter of Uganda’s leadership. Whether on foreign soil or at home, she consistently defended Uganda’s policies, promoted its economic and political objectives, and stood as a pillar of support for President Museveni. Her leadership was notably on display during key moments, such as the NRM campaign rally in Kole District in 2015, where she successfully mobilized and inspired the masses.

Ambassador Aceng’s commitment to Uganda extends beyond the political realm. As the Dean of the African Diplomatic Group in Canada, she was instrumental in promoting African interests, particularly the continent’s economic and skilled labor potential. She reached out to African communities across Canada, mobilizing professionals to give back to Africa and encouraging successful Africans to reinvest in the continent. Her efforts culminated in the establishment of the African Diaspora Trade and Economic Conference, a platform that has significantly enhanced trade relations between Uganda and Canada.
