What is SOLFA and its mission?

SOLFA, a youth-led organization dedicated to fostering sustainable development, was established to support communities through initiatives in leadership, talent expression, climate resilience, and community building. Founded by Fabris Mulindi, SOLFA emphasizes inclusive platforms where young individuals can showcase their abilities and drive positive change. The organization’s broader mission includes sustainable agriculture programs and youth empowerment, aligning with its track record of integrating sustainable practices with community engagement.

When and where will the festival take place?

The festival is set for January 4, 2026, at the Red Cross Main Hall in Kasonga, Kyangwali Refugee Settlement, Kikuube District, Western Uganda. This location in the heart of the settlement provides an ideal setting for bringing together refugee and host-community youth.

What does the theme “One Dream, One Stage” signify?

“One Dream, One Stage” symbolizes the unity and shared potential of youth, offering a platform—both literal and metaphorical—for participants to express their talents and aspirations. It reflects the belief that every young person has unique potential and deserves an opportunity to shine, emphasizing collaboration and shared purpose.

What activities can attendees expect?

Attendees can look forward to a dynamic lineup of activities, including:

  • Talent Showcases: Performances in music, arts, and other creative expressions.
  • Entrepreneurship Exhibitions: Displays of innovative ideas and youth-led ventures.
  • Public Speaking and Debates: Sessions to hone communication skills and discuss pressing issues.
  • Interactive Workshops: Focused on sustainability, climate resilience, and community development.

The event will also feature recognition and mentorship opportunities, designed to build confidence, develop skills, and encourage ongoing collaborations among participants, including refugee youth, young change-makers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.

Why is this festival important for the community?

By hosting this festival, SOLFA seeks to enhance connections between diverse groups, boost youth involvement in societal challenges, and amplify the impact of youth-led initiatives. It aims to strengthen ties between refugee and host communities, promote youth participation in societal issues, and elevate the visibility of youth-led efforts in building resilient futures.
