Who Is Matthew Millstein?

Matthew Millstein introduces himself firstly as a believer, an impending husband, a son, a brother, a friend, and an entrepreneur. Nonetheless, he eventually tells us, “I am a business owner and founder of Old Soul!” Matt underscored that life’s richness extends far beyond entrepreneurship. The Podcasting Journey Of Matthew Millstein

Millstein’s odyssey in podcasting commenced in 2022 with the inception of his maiden podcast, “Beyond the Book.” Before this, he served as a producer for “Leading Forward with Kristy Berger” in 2021. He candidly reflects on the intricate task of balancing podcasting with the responsibilities that populate his life.

What Inspired Him?

The wellspring of Millstein’s podcasting pursuit finds its roots in his unique vision and fervor for the medium. While acknowledging the support of friends and family, no singular catalyst propelled him toward this endeavor. “I remember coming up with the idea when I found that podcasts were rare. However, after joining the industry, I realized, ” lots of people doing podcasts.” revealed Millstein.

Where did Matt get his education?

Millstein began his higher education as a music major at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, concentrating on percussion and music technology. However, a profound realization led him to redirect his academic voyage toward corporate communications, capitalizing on his preexisting knowledge of audio engineering and music technology. In that class, Matt met his fiance who he is yet to wed in October 2023. Matthew Milstein told Kampala ET, “I did have a mentor in High School who told me the basics of audio editing and mastering. For this reason, I found technical music classes as a walkover. Just like, I switched courses!” Matt later returned to pursue a Master’s degree in the same course because he had enjoyed the communication classes.

What is his career path to date?

The transition from music to corporate communications served as the conduit for Millstein’s podcasting vocation. It commenced with editing church service videos and evolved into podcast production for a diverse clientele. This organic progression ultimately culminated in the establishment of Old Soul, his podcasting enterprise. Matt profoundly credits the Church, Kristy Berger, and her husband Rod Berger for helping him turn into a full-time podcast expert.

How to build a successful podcast

Millstein underscores that podcasting demands discipline, akin to any other life endeavor. He says, “For example, if you are a cook, you are gonna go through the entire process of learning, messing up and then you will be good. Your hundredth podcast will be far from your first.” He accentuates that, particularly in the newborn stages, content quality eclipses technical nuances. “Focus on the quality of your content before getting to the technical quality,” he emphasizes. He contends that consistency constitutes a linchpin for sustained success in podcasting.

Matthew Millstein Reveals when to start a Podcast: Age and Platform

According to Millstein, starting a podcast is open to individuals of all ages. He trains young children and hosts a few seminars for them to learn more. Furthermore, he suggests that rather than fixating on the hosting platform, the focus should center on podcast distribution platforms, as content dissemination across multiple channels can be seamlessly executed.

Earning a Living through Podcasting

Millstein discerns two principal avenues to sustain livelihood through podcasting. Firstly, lead generation can prove lucrative for businesses, offering a conduit to engage prospective clients through podcasts. Secondly, as a podcast burgeons in popularity and garners a substantial listenership, sponsorship and advertising opportunities unfurl their wings.

How many podcasts has Matt Millstein produced at Old Soul?

With pride, Millstein discloses that Old Soul has birthed over two dozen podcast shows, collectively amassing more than 400 episodes. He also pays homage to some of his revered podcasting peers, including luminaries like Joe Rogan, Dr. Rod Berger, Andrew Schultz, and Dr. John Deloney.
