My Heart Is Breaking: Nina Roz Speaks Out After Father’s Arrest in Sembabule

Ugandan singer and songwriter Nina Kankunda also known as Nina Roz has spoken out in anguish after her father was allegedly arrested in Sembabule District when one of his cows strayed onto land said to be owned by President Yoweri Museveni.

What did Nina Roz say in the post

In a heartfelt statement shared on her verified Facebook page, Nina Roz expressed her disbelief and sorrow over what she described as a cruel and unjust act.

My heart is breaking. Today, my father was arrested in Sembabule because one of his cows mistakenly strayed onto land allegedly owned by the President. A cow. Grazing. That’s all it took for him to be dragged away like a criminal.

This isn’t just about land. It’s about a system that makes the poor fear the powerful. It’s about a father who has worked his whole life in the sun, providing for his family through honest farming now humiliated and detained because of a mistake by an animal.

How do I explain this pain to my siblings? How do I sleep knowing my father is behind bars for something so unintentional, so human? Where is compassion? Where is leadership that protects, not punishes?

Uganda Police Force this is not justice. This is cruelty. Please, let my father go. Let our people breathe.

My heart is heavy My father has been arrested in Sembabule because one of his cows accidentally grazed on land said to belong to the President A mistake by an animal has cost our family peace Is this the Uganda we deserve? @PoliceUg @KagutaMuseveni we need humanity No intimidatio

Public concern and unanswered questions

Nina Roz’s post has sparked widespread concern online, with many Ugandans expressing solidarity and calling for her father’s release. The incident has also reignited debate around land ownership, power dynamics, and justice in rural Uganda.

While authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the arrest, the singer’s post has brought national attention to what appears to be a minor livestock incident turned criminal matter.

As the story continues to unfold, the public awaits clarity and action — and a resolution that restores dignity to a family that, according to Nina Roz, has only ever sought to live honestly and peacefully.

The whole thing is more than it meets the eye! The underlying reason could be more of the attire she’s donning than the stray cow!
