Kampala, Uganda – The European Union (EU) and the International Trade Center (ITC) have announced the highly anticipated return of the Business Acceleration Project, “Opportunities Are Here” (OAH). The announcement was made on 13th April 2024. The program is designed for young entrepreneurs in the Ugandan film industry. Why was the Opportunities Are Here project launched?

The Ugandan film industry has faced numerous challenges, including limited financing, talent acquisition, and management. However, with the support of the EU and ITC, the OAH project has been able to address these gaps and provide a platform for young filmmakers to showcase their talent. The project’s success in its first season has led to its return, with an even more comprehensive program designed to empower Ugandan filmmakers.

What does the E.U say?

Speaking at the launch, EU Ambassador to Uganda, H.E Jan Sadek, expressed his delight at the project’s return, stating, “This innovative project empowers young talents, fosters cultural exchange, and nurtures creativity. We are committed to supporting the growth of the Ugandan film industry, and this project is a significant step towards achieving that goal.”

Phiona Bukulu, Country Lead at ITC, noted that the project’s return will significantly impact the Ugandan film industry. “We were overwhelmed with the reception from content creators in Season 1, and we encourage skeptical and talented Ugandan filmmakers to embrace this game-changing program. Our goal is to create a sustainable film industry in Uganda, and we believe that this project is a crucial step towards achieving that goal.”
