Uganda Top 5 Artists of the Year were announced as global music streaming powerhouse Spotify, via its branch Spotify Africa, released its list for 2025. As is the norm, each year Spotify’s “Spotify Wrapped” initiative uses data from the yearly listening history of music lovers across the globe to highlight the talents that truly captured listeners’ attention—not just for a few hours a month, but across many hours throughout the year.

Spoiler alert: you will notice that some artists who have been dominating airwaves in Uganda are not on the list. This may be due to the fact that their fanbase does not primarily stream their songs on Spotify. As a result, Spotify lacks the data needed to rank these artists among the top.
However, for individual listeners, Spotify Wrapped has identified their personal best artists and songs based on how much time they spent listening to specific artists or tracks. The internet is currently filled with many users sharing their individual top artists and songs.

Uganda Spotify Top 5 Artists of the Year
To begin with, the first artist on the list is none other than Elijah Kitaka. Any doubt on this? Maybe yes, maybe no. Elijah Kitaka has produced a number of hit songs such as “Dawa” ,Good Idea ft Daz Vibex,” “Daily Bundle,” and “Ekyange,” among others. In turn, his fanbase didn’t let him down and listened fervently, especially on Spotify. In face two of his songs feature in Spotify Uganda top five songs.

Next is Joshua Baraka. The song “Wrong Places” has indeed made this Joshua’s year, as it has been listened to in 183 countries. Many Ugandan music lovers see him as Uganda’s best music export, as his sound and style appeal to international audiences as well.

In addition to Elijah Kitaka, Swangz Avenue also had Vinka among Uganda’s Top 5 Artists of the Year. This further proves the label’s strength. Vinka’s songs “Sirubula” and “Gukwase” have inspired numerous dance challenges on TikTok. While these aren’t necessarily the only songs credited for her place on this list, her inclusion showcases what a force she is in Uganda’s music industry.
As if that weren’t enough, another Swangz Avenue artist, Azawi, is also on this illustrious list. Fresh from renewing her contract with Swangz Avenue, Azawi’s name deserves its place here. There is no doubt that she is here to stay and achieve even more with the label.
Lastly, King Saha—the artist who held two sold-out concerts this year—cannot be taken for granted. The fact that his concerts sold out is evidence enough of his dedicated fanbase and their love for his music. This same love propelled fans to stream his songs on Spotify, earning him a spot among Uganda’s Top 5 Artists of the Year.
That’s all for now as we await more lists to come. Which artists do you think should have made this list?
