Queerly this afternoon, I chatted with a lizard

Who nodded at every question even when hard.

I took it as an insult, threw a stone at it.

He jumped, nodded in affirmation, confirming he is fit.

Calm, calm, calm! I told myself.

Lizards don’t usually, at death, get wreaths.

He nodded and paced off after a deep breath,

Leapt over a few of the bricks.

Till now, these I believe, were his tricks;

Confirm all, reject none and pace off,

Or, for humans, one can simply feign a cough.

Not all questions are meant to be answered

Otherwise through them, your fears are conquered.

Silence speaks better than a load of words for the wise,

And for us the fools, our words are always on the rise!
