A plane crash in South Korea on On 29th December 2024, a passenger plane crash-landed at an airport in South Korea and burst into flames shortly after touchdown. The incident occurred during the aircraft’s approach to the runway. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire and assist passengers and crew.

What Are Authorities Saying About the Plane Crash in South Korea Airport?

Authorities have confirmed that a plane carrying 181 passengers crashed at a South Korean airport on December 29th, 2024. Painfully, 179 people lost their lives in the incident. Two individuals, including both crew members, survived the crash. Rescue teams are continuing their search for three people who remain missing.

The plane Boeing 737-800 flight is operated by airline Jeju Air – had 181 people on board, it was was arriving from Bangkok, Thailand and it also had six flight staff. According to reports, the survived plane crew were rushed to the nearby local hospital and later transferred to the main hospital, and it’s reported to have survived with minor injuries. These two plane crew were found in the plane tail, its the only part that had its shape retained.

Among the dead, 84 are male and 85 are female while the genders of 10 people have not been confirmed.

Jeju Air Boss Speaks Out on Plane Crash

According to BBC, the Jeju Air boss says, The crash was not due to “any maintenance issues”, the head of Jeju Air’s management team says.

According to the Yonhap news agency, Song Kyung-hoon told a press briefing: “There are areas we have to investigate further by determining the exact cause of the crash.”

He adds that there is a schedule for maintenance checks and that they leave “no stone unturned” regarding maintenance work ahead of take-offs. Kyung-hoon also says the company’s insurance plan should be able to support the victims and their families, Yonhap reports.
