A Look Back at 2024 UNSA Tororo District Debate Championship
The 2024 UNSA Tororo District Championship was a huge success, held at Tororo Parents Girls School on 13th June 2024. Sixteen schools competed, though some previous participants were notably absent.
The event started late—typical “African time”—but the energy was electric. The Chief Adjudicators set the tone:
Mr. Okello Abilla Emmanuel (Debate)
Mr. Bwambale Kened (Poetry)
Ms. Awor Donnah (Public Speech)
Schools were assigned team names and matched against each other. Many students were nervous, especially those facing Tororo Girls School, the defending champions.
UNSA Tororo District Debate 2024 Winner
Debate: Tororo Girls School (Team Victoria) defended their title with an unbeatable trio: Awori Precious Aronda, Akoth Priscilla, and Ainebyona Mary.

Public Speech: Karungi Mary (Rubongi Army SS, Team Atlas) surprised everyone by taking first place, with Asianut Lynnate (Tororo Girls) as runner-up.
Poetry: Jjingo Ham (St. Peters College Tororo) won, while Odongo Purity (Kimbilio Schools) and Nagayi Diane (Tororo Progressive Academy) tied for second.
The competition was fierce, proving that new talents are rising to challenge the reigning champions.
Nationals: The Ultimate Goal
The district winners will advance to the UNSA National Debate Championship, where they’ll compete against over 2,000 students from across Uganda.
Last year’s national champion was Seeta High School, Mbalala, proving that regional winners can dominate on the big stage.
