The Ministry of Defence & Veteran Affairs, under the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), has officially released the shortlist of aspiring candidates for the 2025 General Recruitment Exercise. The physical recruitment exercise is scheduled to commence on 05 August 2025 and will conclude on 15 August 2025 at designated recruitment centres across the country, as previously published. The UPDF has outlined specific instructions for shortlisted candidates to ensure a smooth process.


Key Details for 2025 Shortlisted Candidates
Shortlisted candidates are required to report to their assigned recruitment centres with the following:
- Three passport photographs.
- An application letter signed by the Local Council 1 (LC 1), District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO).
- Original academic documents for verification.
Candidates who did not indicate their district of residence in their applications will be directed to report to the districts listed on their national identification cards. The UPDF has issued a stern warning that those presenting forged documents will face prosecution. Only shortlisted candidates are permitted to appear at the recruitment centres, and the process is entirely free of charge. Additionally, candidates are advised to remain vigilant against fraudsters.
Successful candidates must report to the Kawempe Basic Military Training School in Ngoma-Nakasoke District within three days of recruitment to commence their training.

The UPDF has provided a detailed movement time table to guide candidates to their respective recruitment centres. The schedule, effective from 05 to 15 August 2025, is divided into regions and districts:
- Team One – Eastern Region: Recruitment will take place in districts such as Iganga, Mbale, and Tororo, starting 05 August.
- Team Two – Bugisu Region: Centres include Kapchorwa and Mbale, beginning 06 August.
- Team Three – Bukedi Region: Activities will occur in Iganga and Pallisa, starting 07 August.
- Team Four – Teso Region: Soroti and Kaberamaido will host recruitment from 08 August.
- Team Five – West Nile Region: Arua City and Nebbi are scheduled from 09 August.
- Team Six – Mid-Western Region: Hoima and Kasese will see activity from 10 August.
- Team Seven – Central Region: Kampala and Wakiso are set for 11 August.
- Team Eight – Northern Region: Gulu and Kitgum will begin on 12 August.
- Team Nine – Karamoja Region: Moroto and Kotido are scheduled from 13 August.
- Team Ten – Western Region: Mbarara and Bushenyi will start on 14 August.
