Who is Bryan White and Why is He Back in the News in November 2025?
Controversial Ugandan socialite Brian Kirumira, better known as Bryan White, has been remanded to Luzira Maximum Security Prison on November 19, 2025, facing serious charges including human sacrifice and manslaughter in connection with the death of 25-year-old Carol Nalubwama.
What Exactly is he Accused of Doing?
Prosecution alleges that on October 22, 2025, at his residence in Kyamula Zone, Makindye Division, Bryan White intentionally burnt Carol Nalubwama using candle wax, petrol, ghee, and honey as part of a ritual “for the purpose of performing or furthering witchcraft or other unlawful ritual acts.” The victim was only taken to hospital five days later on October 27 and died from 90% burn wounds. He faces seven counts, including human sacrifice (punishable by death), manslaughter, possession of narcotics, and giving false information to police.
Why Was he Carried to Court on a Mattress?
In recent days, Bryan White has been hospitalised with a severe but unconfirmed illness that left him wailing in pain and unable to walk. During his initial court appearance at Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court, prison wardens had to carry him in on a mattress with heavily bandaged feet. The court initially sent him back to hospital on humanitarian grounds, but after medical clearance he was declared fit for remand and transferred to Luzira Prison today.

What Did the Victim’s Father Say About suspect?
Ssalongo Tom Mutyaba, father of the deceased Carol Nalubwama, told journalists outside court: “Bryan has been finishing people and getting away with it, but this time he messed with my daughter. I will not bury her until Bryan experiences hell on earth.” He dismissed Bryan White’s dramatic pain displays as an act.
Has Bryan White Been Involved in Scandals Before?
Yes. Bryan White shot to fame in 2017 as head of the Bryan White Foundation, throwing money at youth and celebrities. His reputation crumbled after a 2017 attempted-murder case (charges dropped after an out-of-court settlement), allegations of exploitation, and other brushes with the law. Many Ugandans once saw him as untouchable because of his wealth and connections.
What Happens Next in the Human Sacrifice Case?
Bryan White will remain at Luzira Prison until his next court mention on December 18, 2025. Four co-accused, including his wife Daisy Nalunga, are already on remand. The Director of Public Prosecutions is expected to commit the case to the High Court soon, where a full trial could begin. Police continue to analyse CCTV footage and items recovered from alleged shrines at his home.
