Uncle Chumi, an emerging Ugandan artist, has recently stirred controversy by demanding 30 million Ugandan shillings from popular singer Spice Diana. The demand stems from their collaboration on the remix of Uncle Chumi’s hit song “Gwokute Gwobba,” which was released in March 2025. According to reports, Uncle Chumi claims she is entitled to this amount to fund the construction of her parents’ graves, suggesting she feels undercompensated or unsupported following their joint project.

Why Is Uncle Chumi Demanding 30 Million from Spice Diana?

The situation escalated after Spice Diana removed the “Gwokute Gwobba” remix visuals from her YouTube channel on April 10, 2025, at the request of her fans, known as The Spice Gadgets. Fans had expressed dissatisfaction with Uncle Chumi, accusing her of disrespecting Spice Diana in interviews. This move came amid a backdrop of tension, as Uncle Chumi had previously alleged that Spice Diana’s manager, Roger Lubega, forced her into the collaboration—a claim that shocked Spice Diana, who had viewed Chumi as a supportive fan and even welcomed her into her home.

The fallout between the two artists has been widely discussed. Earlier in April, Uncle Chumi publicly aired grievances, accusing Spice Diana of failing to promote the remix adequately and even abandoning her during a time of need, including an alleged jail stint for computer misuse—assertions Spice Diana has denied. The intervention of media personality Sheilah Gashumba on April 4, 2025, briefly paused Chumi’s public attacks, but the demand for 30 million shillings has reignited the feud.

This financial demand has added a new layer to their ongoing dispute, highlighting issues of trust, collaboration, and compensation in the Ugandan music industry. While Spice Diana has not publicly responded to this specific claim as of April 10, 2025, the situation continues to generate buzz, with fans and observers awaiting further developments.
