Great news for music fans, Lorde is working on new songs. The famous singer from New Zealand has been quiet for a while, but now she’s ready to share something fresh. On April 9, 2025, Lorde posted a short video on TikTok. In it, she walks through Washington Square Park in New York City while a new song plays. The clip is only 15 seconds long, but it’s enough to get everyone excited.

What the Song Sounds Like

The song sounds a bit like her older album Melodrama, with a moody beat and deep words. She sings, “Since I was 17, I gave you everything / Now we wake from a dream, well baby, what was that?” These lines make fans think the new music will be about looking back on her life and feelings. It’s been almost four years since her last album, Solar Power, came out in 2021, so this feels like a big moment.

Lorde also cleared all her old posts from Instagram and changed her profile picture. Fans think this means a new chapter is starting. She’s been dropping hints for months—like pictures of her in the studio and a tiny clip of music last summer. People have spotted her with producers like Jim-E Stack and Dev Hynes (also known as Blood Orange), so it seems she’s been busy creating.

Her fans, sometimes called “Ellaphants,” are thrilled. One person on X wrote, “We made it, new music is on the way!” Another said the snippet could “change the trajectory of my life.” It’s clear that Lorde’s return is something special for them.

How Lorde’s Music Journey Looks Like

Lorde has a history of taking her time with music. Her first album, Pure Heroine, came out in 2013, then Melodrama in 2017, and Solar Power in 2021—each one four years apart. If that pattern holds, 2025 could bring her fourth album. She’s also done other projects lately, like singing with Charli XCX and Marlon Williams, but this new song feels like the start of something big just for her.

The short video doesn’t tell us everything, but it’s a promise that more is coming. After years of waiting, Lorde’s fans are ready to dance, cry, or just listen closely to whatever she shares next. For now, the drought is over, and Lorde is back to light up the music world!
