What happened during My Day Concert 2025 in Mbale?

Under a blanket of grey skies and the fresh scent of rain-soaked gardens, music lovers gathered at Courts View Hotel in Mbale for the highly anticipated “My Day” concert hosted by none other than the radiant Wetsetse Suzan. Set against the backdrop of Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, the event unfolded into a soulful celebration despite an extended afternoon downpour.

A Rainy Start, A Glorious Comeback

I arrived promptly at 3:00 PM, umbrella in hand, just as the heavens opened up over the hotel’s lush backyard gardens. For over two hours, the downpour persisted, soaking the grounds but not the spirit of the crowd.

By 5:30 PM, the rain softened and the magic began. Guests, many dressed in floral prints and traditional wraps, streamed in with cheerful energy, quickly filling the previously empty chairs.

Gospel Vibes to Stir the Soul

The concert opened with a captivating performance by Mai Wakuti, whose Lugisu gospel songs warmed the hearts of all in attendance. Her engaging presence and rich vocals turned heads—and phones—as she shared her booking numbers live on stage:
0782644909 / 0750197166.

Next up was Blessed Eric, delivering a single, heartfelt number that bridged the spiritual with the serene.

Then came Ms. Walyawula Ande, gracing the stage alongside her two children—a boy and a girl. Their joint performance created a touching tribute to motherhood and tradition, earning warm applause and heartfelt smiles from the audience.

The Queen Arrives: Wetsetse Suzan in Full Bloom

At exactly 8:00 PM, the moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived.

Wetsetse Suzan emerged like a vision from a dream, dressed in a dark blue single-armed top and a flowing white silk skirt. Her presence exuded elegance, power, and poise. The crowd rose to their feet in admiration as she took her place on stage, flanked by her well-rehearsed band.

She opened her set with “Shendi”, a soul-searching song meaning “I am who I am”. The power in her voice and message rippled through the air, touching every soul in the garden.

Her setlist featured beloved hits including:

  • Village Mates
  • Wawele
  • And other melodic Gishu songs that had the audience singing in harmony.

Adding to the spectacle, Epic Boy joined her on stage midway through her performance, igniting even more energy as the crowd danced, clapped, and sang along.

A Night to Remember

The event was brought to life by Hash Events and proudly sponsored by Kampala Edge Times, Equity Bank, Elgon Water, and more. The coordination, the ambiance, the sound, and above all, the passion made “My Day” not just a concert—but an experience.

As the final notes faded and the moon rose high above Mbale, one thing was clear: Wetsetse Suzan and her fellow artists had given the mothers—and the entire community—a night to remember.
