Has Airtel Money partnered with Prudential?

Kampala, Uganda – 24th March 2026: In a major boost for digital financial inclusion, Prudential Uganda has partnered with NxtPe (powered by Airtel Money) to let customers pay their life insurance premiums instantly and securely using mobile money. This new option eliminates the hassle of time, distance, and physical payments, making consistent policy maintenance easier than ever for Ugandans.

Payments reflect immediately in the system, reducing missed premiums and ensuring uninterrupted long-term financial protection for families. The partnership aligns with Prudential’s mission to deliver simple, accessible insurance solutions in a country where mobile money has become a daily habit for millions.

What Is the New Prudential Uganda and Airtel Money Partnership All About?

The collaboration introduces NxtPe, a secure and user-friendly payments solution, as an official channel for Prudential life insurance premiums. Customers can now handle payments directly from their Airtel Money wallets with just a few clicks. Once authorized, the system can even handle automatic recurring deductions, removing the worry of forgetting due dates.

This move builds on Prudential Uganda’s ongoing digital push and follows similar innovations by other insurers in the market.

How Does Paying Prudential Premiums with Airtel Money via NxtPe Work?

It’s straightforward and convenient:

  • Customers visit the dedicated link: https://kora.nxt.pe/prudential
  • Enter their policy details
  • Authorize the payment (or set up recurring deductions) using their Airtel Money wallet

The transaction is instant, secure, and confirmed immediately — giving both customers and agents peace of mind. No more bank queues, cash handling, or delays in policy activation.

Why Is This Partnership Important for Ugandan Customers and Agents?

Uganda’s insurance sector is expanding rapidly. Gross written premiums reached around UGX 2.03 trillion by the end of 2025, with life insurance showing strong growth and closing the gap on non-life. Yet overall insurance penetration remains low (under 1% of GDP), meaning many families still lack proper financial protection.

Mobile money, led by players like Airtel Money (part of a network that recently surpassed 52 million users across Africa), has transformed daily transactions. This partnership taps into that reality, making insurance more accessible to everyday Ugandans who rely on their phones for payments.

For agents, it reduces friction during sales and renewals, speeds up policy activation, and builds greater client confidence.

What Did the CEOs Say About the Prudential-NxtPe Collaboration?

Tetteh Ayitevie, Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Uganda (a leader with over 20 years of experience in insurance strategy and operations), commented:
“This partnership improves how people access and maintain their Prudential life insurance policies. Premium payments now fit into everyday mobile money use. This strengthens financial protection, reduces missed payments, and supports our agenda of simple and accessible financial solutions for Uganda.”

He added that the integration also supports agents by shortening the path from sale to active policy.

Neelesh (CEO of NxtPe) said:
“Our focus is removing friction from essential payments. Working with Prudential Uganda brings life insurance closer to people through mobile money. Secure and instant payments support consistency and trust in financial protection.”

How Is This Helping Grow Insurance Access in Uganda?

Prudential Uganda continues to invest in digital partnerships that enhance customer experience. With life insurance gaining momentum (its market share rose significantly in 2025), innovations like NxtPe-powered Airtel Money payments are expected to drive higher uptake and retention.

The solution fits Uganda’s fast-growing digital economy, where mobile money transactions have become the norm for millions.
