The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced the temporary suspension of the automated Express Penalty System (EPS Auto), effective midnight tonight. This move comes in response to the need for a comprehensive review of the system’s implementation and operations.

What the Ministry of Works and Transport Said About the EPS Auto Suspension

According to an official statement released via the Ministry’s social media platform, the suspension will allow authorities to assess the EPS Auto’s impact and address any concerns raised by stakeholders and the public. The system, introduced to streamline traffic enforcement and penalty issuance, has been under scrutiny in recent weeks.

A detailed statement outlining the way forward will be delivered tomorrow by General Edward Katumba Wamala, Minister of Works and Transport. The Ministry emphasized that the review aims to ensure the system’s effectiveness, fairness, and alignment with national transport and safety goals.

“In the meantime, we urge all road users to continue driving responsibly and observing traffic rules,” the Ministry said in its statement.
