Who is Shamim Malende?
Shamim Malende, born in December 1986 in Kawempe, Kampala, Uganda, is a distinguished lawyer, politician, and community activist. Renowned for her relentless pursuit of justice, Malende is the only woman on the legal team of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, and currently serves as the Women’s Representative for Kampala District in Uganda’s 11th Parliament (2021–2026).
Early Life and Education of Shamim Malende
Shamim Malende was born to Alhajj Jamal Ahmed Sebuta Malende, a lawyer, and Jane Francis Nasunna, a teacher. Growing up in a family that emphasized self-reliance and hard work, she was exposed to values that would later shape her approach to community service and leadership.
Her academic journey began at Busaale Church of Uganda Primary School in Kayunga District, where she completed her Primary Leaving Examinations in 1994.
