KAMPALA, UGANDA — KCB Bank Uganda has officially reaffirmed its commitment to driving sustainable industrialization and national economic growth by stepping forward as a Diamond Sponsor for the landmark 15th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference 2026.
Hosted by the Uganda Chamber of Energy and Minerals in close collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, the conference is scheduled to take place on September 29 and 30, 2026, at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala.
Convening international project developers, regional regulators, global financiers, and local industrial suppliers, the high-level summit operates under the theme: “Beneath the Surface: Unlocking Africa’s Next Mining Powerhouse.”
Following the main two-day conference in Munyonyo, the organizers will conduct an Eastern Ugandan Field Excursion from October 1 to 3, 2026, providing international investors with direct, on-ground exposure to Uganda’s vast geological deposits.
What is the 15th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference 2026 and when will it take place?
The 15th Annual Mineral Wealth Conference serves as East Africa’s premier mining investment gathering, connecting global capital with East Africa’s unexploited mineral wealth.
Recent high-resolution aeromagnetic surveys executed across Uganda have mapped over 58 distinct categories of minerals, positioning the nation as a vital source for the global green energy transition and high-tech manufacturing.

Key Critical Minerals Mapped Across Uganda
- Clean Energy & Battery Metals: Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel, and Graphite.
- Rare Earth Elements (REE): Essential magnet and high-tech manufacturing inputs located across Eastern and Western Uganda.
- Industrial & Construction Inputs: High-grade Iron Ore, Copper, Phosphate, and Industrial Limestone.
How is Uganda shifting from raw mineral extraction to domestic processing?
Speaking during a joint press briefing at the Uganda Media Centre, the Minister of State for Minerals, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, outlined the government’s strategic mandate to end raw resource exportation and establish domestic refining, processing, and manufacturing hubs.
Nyamutoro emphasized that historic extraction models captured minimal economic value for host nations, necessitating a structural shift toward local content integration and value addition.
“Our ambition must go beyond just knowing what lies beneath our soil,” declared Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro. “We must translate our mineral potential into productive investments, employment, industrial capacity, value addition, and sustainable national wealth. For too long, mineral-producing countries in Africa have captured only a limited share of the value generated from their resources, and Uganda must pursue a different path. We are inviting investors, financiers, and technology providers who are ready to work with us not only in exploration, but in processing, refining, and manufacturing.”
What trade finance and asset loans does KCB Bank Uganda offer to miners?
To bridge the capital gap between early-stage exploration, heavy equipment acquisition, and large-scale industrial processing plants, KCB Bank Uganda has structured specialized corporate banking packages for regional suppliers, national contractors, and international developers.
Detailed during the press announcement, Hirya Fred, Manager of Trade Finance at KCB Bank Uganda, confirmed that the financial institution is actively deploying capital solutions tailored to the extractives sector:
“As KCB Bank Uganda, we are really prepared and ready to support miners and key participants along this journey right from the start of their projects,” stated Hirya Fred. “Whether businesses are looking for asset financing, working capital, or capital to purchase and set up processing plants, those structured solutions are available. We are ready to support the sector, and we look forward to engaging directly with stakeholders at Speke Resort Munyonyo later this month.”
