The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) officially held the opening ceremony for the ongoing National Boys Football Championship 2025 at Ngora High School on Thursday, 8th May 2025. A few early morning and mid-morning games were played before the official ceremony, which began after lunch.

By around 2:00 PM, players from the 64 teams participating in this year’s National Boys Football championship assembled at the Ngora High School premises. Led by a brass band, the teams marched in procession to the Ngora High School sports ground, where the ceremony took place.

Speeches were delivered by several distinguished guests:
“I would like to thank USSSA for the opportunity to host these games and for developing sports in the country. We also thank the government for its continued support towards the school,” — Opolot Eliphaz, Head Teacher, Ngora High School.
“We have 64 schools and 1,600 athletes who will compete for this year’s title. I want to inform you that the officials at this championship are our capacity-building products who are performing well both here and at the international level,” — Mugisha Justus, USSSA President.
The ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Ngora District, Jacinta Ayo, who served as the Chief Guest. She urged players to work hard, remain disciplined, and make the most of the platform:
“I would like to remind you to put in hard work but also stay disciplined. This is a platform to showcase your talent, and it will pay off. I urge parents to support their children in participating in sports.”10. After her remarks, the Chief Guest kicked off the ball to officially begin the match between hosts Ngora High School and Kyadondo SS.
