KAMPALA, UGANDA — Media personality, actress, and scriptwriter Stella Nante has announced her resignation from hosting the flagship morning talk show Mwasuze Mutya on NTV Uganda and Spark TV.
Nante made the announcement on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, publishing an official resignation letter detailing the conclusion of her two-year stint at Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda.
The sudden departure coincided with a public appeal on X (formerly Twitter) by NMG Uganda Head of Broadcast Flavia Tumusiime, who asked viewers for honest reviews and suggestions on how to revamp the long-running show.
Nante’s exit marks the latest chapter in a turbulent host turnover for Mwasuze Mutya, which has struggled to maintain hosting stability since the departure of its pioneer host, Faridah Nakazibwe, in late 2023.

Why did Stella Nante resign from Mwasuze Mutya on NTV Uganda?
In a formal statement released on September 1, 2026, Stella Nante revealed that her decision to leave the show was not abrupt, but rather a calculated career shift formulated two months prior.
Nante explained that she needed space and time to focus on emerging professional ventures outside daily morning television:
“The decision to bring my time on the show to an end is one I arrived at two months ago, after considerable thought about the direction I want my career to take,” Nante stated in her resignation letter.“I am currently pursuing a number of exciting new trajectories, and I felt it was both necessary and prudent to create the space and focus required to give them the attention they deserve.”
Nante expressed deep gratitude to Nation Media Group, NTV Uganda, Spark TV, her production crew, sponsors, and the viewers who welcomed her into their homes every morning.
“I leave with nothing but gratitude for the opportunity to have worked with what I consider the best media enterprise in Uganda — Nation Media Group,” she added.“Leaving Mwasuze Mutya is therefore not a departure from growth, but a step into another phase of it.”
Nante originally assumed hosting duties on May 1, 2024, debuting with singer Spice Diana as her first guest. Before transitioning into daily morning television, Nante established her reputation in Uganda’s film industry as a lead actress in popular television dramas including Deception (where she played Jackie), Second Chance, and The Honorablez.

What did Flavia Tumusiime post on X about Mwasuze Mutya show?
Just hours before Nante’s resignation letter began circulating across social media platforms, senior NMG executive and veteran media personality Flavia Tumusiime posted a tweet soliciting public feedback regarding the future direction of the show.
Writing on her official handle @Mizzflav on Tuesday afternoon, September 1, 2026, Tumusiime asked:
“I need your honest review of Mwasuze Mutya the show. What I could change or add. Thank you.”
The timing of the post fueled intense speculation among media analysts and viewers, with many viewing the public consultation as a signal that NMG management is preparing a total structural overhaul, format refresh, and talent search for the morning program.
As Head of Broadcast, Tumusiime is tasked with revitalizing viewership numbers across NTV and Spark TV, making viewer feedback central to selecting Nante’s successor and refining the show’s editorial focus.
Who started Mwasuze Mutya and how has the host list changed over time?
Mwasuze Mutya stands as one of Uganda’s most iconic morning television properties, broadcast simultaneously across NTV Uganda and Spark TV.
The program was built and made famous by veteran journalist and news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe, who served as its founding host for over a decade. Under Nakazibwe’s tenure, the show became an essential platform for human-interest stories, personal struggles, celebrity interviews, and lifestyle guidance, establishing a massive loyal audience across East Africa.
When Nakazibwe stepped down in late September 2023 after nearly 17 years at NTV, the show entered a period of rapid transition:
| Era & Timeline | Primary Host | Career Background & Tenure Summary |
| 2012 – September 2023 | Faridah Nakazibwe | Founding host who built the brand over a decade before stepping down to pursue private ventures. |
| October 2023 – April 2024 | Ruth Kalibbala Bwanika | Experienced radio and stage personality who hosted for 5 months before stepping down. |
| May 2024 – September 2026 | Stella Nante | Film actress (Deception) and scriptwriter who hosted for 2 years before resigning. |
| September 2026 – Present | TBA / Under Review | Flavia Tumusiime currently gathering viewer input ahead of new host unveil. |
Following Nakazibwe’s exit, veteran media personality and actress Ruth Kalibbala Bwanika was brought in to anchor the morning broadcast in October 2023. However, Kalibbala’s tenure lasted just five months before she departed in April 2024, paving the way for Stella Nante’s appointment on May 1, 2024.
What is next for Mwasuze Mutya on NTV and Spark TV?
With Stella Nante’s departure officially effective as of September 1, 2026, NTV Uganda and Spark TV face the immediate task of filling one of morning television’s most visible roles.
Media commentators anticipate that Flavia Tumusiime and the NMG broadcast team will utilize temporary guest hosts or senior station presenters in the interim while reviewing public suggestions submitted via social media.
Viewers have already begun responding to Tumusiime’s prompt, calling for a mix of deeper investigative human-interest features, enhanced interactive digital segments, and a host capable of matching the empathetic interview style pioneered by Faridah Nakazibwe.
Further announcements regarding the new permanent host and structural changes to Mwasuze Mutya are expected from Nation Media Group in the coming days.
