In every meaningful movement, there are voices that don’t just support — they affirm, guide, and elevate the purpose behind it.
One such voice is Dr. Mercy Mirembe Ntangaare, an Associate Professor of Drama at Makerere University, a respected playwright, theatre maker, and long-standing advocate for storytelling and education in Uganda.

With a career that spans theatre, education, research, and children’s literature, Dr. Mirembe brings not only experience, but a deep understanding of how communities are shaped — not individually, but collectively. Her decision to support the “Paying It Forward” campaign adds both credibility and meaning to the initiative.
Paying It Forward; “We Are Because Others Held Us”
In reflecting on the campaign, Dr. Mirembe shared a message that captures the very heart of the movement:8. “Our lives are not built by ourselves alone, but by the people who hold our hands along the way.”
It’s a reminder that behind every success story, there are unseen hands — people who gave, supported, and believed.

On Giving Without Holding Back

Dr. Mirembe challenged the idea of holding onto resources while others remain in need:
“Don’t focus on what you gain. Focus on what you give.”
“If I have a book, it is far more valuable in the hands of someone who needs it than kept aside waiting for the right moment to benefit me.”
Her words speak directly to the spirit of the campaign — that impact is not in accumulation, but in circulation.
