Kenya is once again mourning the loss of young lives following a tragic incident at Utumishi Girls School that left at least 16 students dead and 74 others injured.
The devastating occurrence, which unfolded at the learning institution in Gilgil, Nakuru County, has triggered grief, shock, and renewed debate over safety in boarding schools across the country.
Emergency responders rushed to the school after distress calls reported a disaster involving students in one of the dormitory sections. Survivors were evacuated as rescue teams worked through the chaos to save trapped learners and transport the injured to nearby health facilities.
